An account manager for commercial lines performs tasks such as reviewing, maintaining, and creating client databases. This may include auditing, billing, and reviewing and updating shipping and sales policies with clients. A commercial lines account manager must stay up to date on systems technology, billing software, and company policy at all times. This is also a position that requires substantive interpersonal skills; an account manager must spend a regular portion of each month with clients (whether nationally or internationally) building rapport while representing the company. Account managers for commercial lines typically must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with added insurance experience a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
