These managers maintain a unified brand message across different media outlets. They also assign, supervise, and review advertising staff's activities. Advertising managers research current advertising trends and conduct surveys so they can make recommendations on increasing company profitability. Advertising managers also develop advertising plans and ensure advertising projects' completion. They must participate in company meetings to present developments in their department and integrate projects meant for different advertising channels (helping ensure the company's message is disseminated properly). Advertising mangers engage with public relations departments, media, and other individuals to facilitate communication endeavors. They also monitor and analyze results of advertising campaigns to determine cost effectiveness and the direction of future campaigns.
A bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field is generally required for this position. In addition, previous managerial experience and relevant industry certifications may be preferred.
