Job Description for Motorcycle Mechanic

A motorcycle mechanic repairs and maintains motorcycles. Necessary skills include an understanding of how a motorcycle engine is constructed and operates and the ability to properly disassemble and reassemble an engine. Another required skill is knowledge of the construction of the motorcycle frame, including how operational parts are interrelated and fixed to the frame. The mechanic must be able to troubleshoot and affect repairs to any mechanical, electrical or electronic system of the motorcycle as needed. The mechanic must also have knowledge of test equipment and use it to evaluate the performance of the engine and other components. The mechanic should have the ability to listen to the engine and subsequently evaluate any problems with the operation of the motorcycle.
