Job Description for Night Auditor
Night auditors work at the front desk of hotels during the night (or third) shift, so they usually work between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Night auditors generally balance accounting books, complete and transmit daily management accounting reports and supporting documents, and transmit and settle credit card batches. While it is common for night auditors to handle account matters for the hotel, it is not uncommon for them to also handle functions of the front desk staff. They can be found acting as a guest service representative doing room reservations, stocking linens and supplies, delivering notices to guests, answering phone calls, and providing guests with towels, blankets, pillows and other items as needed.Read More...
On a given day, night auditors generally come in on their shifts, assist the front desk staff with anything they may need help with, and review the books. After verifying all transactions, they close the third shift and complete an audit summary for the first and second shifts as well. They must be good with people, able to operate computers, registers and calculators, and have strong telephone and guest relations etiquette and skills. Although higher education degrees are not always required, it is generally preferred that night auditors have some accounting background. (Copyright 2018 PayScale.com)
