Telesales team leaders provide direction to and within their departments and make corrections to staff behavior whenever necessary. They are responsible for ensuring that employees adhere to all laws, regulations, and company policies, and may occasionally lead training systems to improve the team's focus. In addition to managing personnel, these team leaders may also have telesales duties, so persistence and strong phone communication skills are very important in this position. Often, many calls may be required to generate a single sale; calls to customers may be from customer inquiries or leads generated by other departments, and cold-calling may occasionally be required in some positions.
Telesales team leaders must have vast knowledge of their company's offerings in order to educate personnel and offer products that customers may need and are likely to buy. Commission is often offered in this field in the form of rewards for sales made. The job often requires working in a hectic environment with an abundance of tasks, so the abilities to multitask and stay calm under pressure are important.
