Job Description for Call Center Agent

Call center agents work in telephone call center where they may receive incoming calls from customers regarding a product or service or place outgoing calls to current or potential customers. They are required to help customers in a number of areas, such as billing, service issues, and orders. They typically work on a computer at a workstation or cubicle, where they log the calls they make or receive and enter customer information into a specialized database. They may be required to take on additional duties, such as sales and retention.

I have been within the same company 9 years and only leaving due to redundancy so not a choice I made myself, I believe the longer you are with an employer the better product knowledge and company satisfaction, with trust and loyalty.

Pros: I have gained a significant amount of experience and confidence in my abilities. I have met a small number of hard working, competent individuals who understand the necessity for ethics. The C.O.O has shown interest in my development and has taken the time to acknowledge my views re the current situation.
Cons: The office is not organised very well operationally. Management is neither consistent nor is it entirely fair; my job role is constantly changed on the basis of business needs. This essentially boils down to poor management of current resources; poor research and fore-sight into impending business endeavours/ scenarios. On one hand I am being given opportunity to develop a potential careers and the other hand it is being continuously taken away from me a few months down the line due to the above and the companies refusal to acknowledge job role requirements in terms of contract and pay. This is explained as 'keeping employees flexible as per business needs'.
