Job Description for Dispenser

The dispenser distributes prescription medication and equipment to patients and customers after conducting a thorough check to make sure that the prescription and dosage are accurate and that no mistakes have been made by the pharmacist or assistant during the preparation process. This position involves handling customer service, collecting payments, answering questions about the medications, and referring the customer to the pharmacist to answer questions as needed. The dispenser is also responsible for keeping track of records, maintaining hygiene and medication storage standards, and, in some facilities, keeping track of inventory and handling invoicing and returns.
