Macy's, Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at Macy's, Inc.?

Great.
Sales Team Leader, Retail in Bay Shore:
Pros: Interacting with different types of people
Cons: Customers
Stress and lack of transparency.
Counter Manager in Stafford:
Pros: I like the loyal customers in Macys
Cons: Some coworker / management seems to be very political
Sales Associate:
Pros: There are many wonderful co-workers and managers.
Cons: There is very little incentive to perform better. Salary is never discussed as an incentive. The few perks are rather meager and work primarily for the company's benefits. I don't look for small prices or contests to help me feel good about my job. I'm sure it's not that they don't know that the most significant motivator is an appropriate raise in pay. They just choose to ignore the greatest needs of their employees. Some work very close by and for them the job is something that brings in spending money. For others a good part of their salary goes to gas and car maintenance. Still others like myself need the money, live too far to make it in with ease. I would be a lot happier if they would stop trying to tell me that every new policy and event will help Macys make more money. Do they really believe that the employees care that Macy's is making huge profits while they are barely making it on their salaries and giving it (the job) their best.
Work flexibility, low stress, perks.
Retail Sales Associate:
Pros: Customer interaction and being able to help customers find the perfect item!
Cons: The inconsistency of corporate policy and the inconsistent enforcement of same.
Counter Manager:
Pros: The freedom to be yourself.
Cons: The lack of accountability amongst executives.
It is good most of the time.
Retail Sales Associate:
Pros: Working with my customers, management and co workers.
Cons: The coupons and price haggling with certain customers.
Great! Employer who treats employees fair.
Loss Prevention Manager:
Pros: Allows you to make decisions for your self on behalf of the company with macys structure and store responsibility.
Cons: Stressful, Not great for home/life balance. Corporate structure has to many hours as salary and not enough recognition for job well done in times of stress.
