A department store manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the retail store. They typically report to a regional director or regional manager, who they may interact with on a daily basis or less frequently. They hire and manage store personnel, as well as direct them in carrying out their employer’s vision. They may also be responsible for merchandising, training new employees, and completing scheduling and payroll.
