The director of clinical services provides clinical leadership, consultation and support in a health care setting. This is a managerial position that is responsible for developing and directing a team of professional and support staff to provide quality clinical care. The director of clinical services is responsible for supervising all nursing staff, other clinical professionals, and office staff. The director of clinical services also develops budgets; sets and monitors staff achievement; ensures the company meets federal, state, and local laws; and keeps the company informed regarding accreditation policy and procedures. These directors oversee auditing of clinical services and clinical record reviews to establish uniformity, precision, and quality recordkeeping.
The director of clinical services ensures staff maintain empathetic and professional attitudes toward all patients and loved ones, as well as to fellow employees.
Candidates for this position should have at least a bachelor's degree in nursing and be a licensed nurse in this state. A master’s degree in nursing is often preferred.
