A director of professional services is a high-level manager who is responsible for the professional services performed by their firm. First and foremost, the director of professional services is a problem solver; the firm's services must be constantly evaluated to ensure high quality, and the director of professional services must conduct reviews to identify problems in processes or systems. Once a problem has been located, the director or professional services acts as a project manager to implement a solution. In acting as a project manager, the director of professional services works with consultants and team members to design the solution to be implemented. The director then delegates tasks related to that solution and monitors team members' progress. After the tasks are completed, individual pieces completed by team members are integrated into the solution; then, the director of professional services oversees testing and any additional changes as needed.
