Job Description for Educator

Educator is a general description that applies to many different professionals; some common types of educators include Pre-K teachers, elementary, middle, and high school teachers, and postsecondary instructors. However, educators can work in many different fields from schools to hospitals to colleges. Generally, though, educators have a proven knowledge of a field and help others to gain knowledge in their area of knowledge

Depending on their role, educators may need different levels of qualifications. They may need to have a bachelor's or master's degree in the field in which they wish to educate. There are also many different state laws that govern the different types of educators, meaning many educators must pass state-approved tests. If an individual is going to work in a technical field, they may need to go to a technical school and learn a trade before teaching.

Many educators work during regular business hours. They may not work as an educator during the summer, although many educators work different hours or throughout the year. Educators must maintain continuing education in their field and have great communication skills. They also must be well organized and well versed in many learning styles and techniques.
