This position often requires prior experience in customer service expertise, as these managers also work with business development and customer service teams in order to develop strong relationships with customers. They may also develop ideas in order to enter new markets and areas of focus.
Logistics managers must write reports and conduct presentations relating to performance metrics, changes in logistics/supply chain operations, and what can be done to improve these processes. They are sometimes responsible for implementing various tools and systems, as well.
After logistics systems are implemented, these managers will carry out tests to make sure that they function properly and updates are administered as needed. Sometimes, they may need to create training documents or administer in-person training to educate employees about logistics systems. The abilities to multitask and work well under pressure are very important, as those in this position often have multiple projects to manage simultaneously.
