A maintenance director is responsible for ensuring the safety of the area that they are supervising, managing a staff, and dealing directly with the customers or clients. The maintenance director is often consulted for their expertise in how to best maintain the condition of the property. They also manage a budget, which should include allocating expenses and workers in the most efficient and effective way possible. A maintenance director must also have a good hands-on knowledge of how to troubleshoot any logistical problems. This includes doing small repairs, knowing the best practices for the upkeep of the facilities, and having the ability to instruct and train others in these areas.
