A child psychiatrist is a difficult, but often rewarding job. He or she must be able to interact with a number of children, ranging from those who face family problems in the home to those who are afflicted with a disorder such as ADD or ADHD. A psychiatrist must be able to gain a child's trust and build a relationship with his or her client in order to understand the mental state of the child he or she is treating. This requires a delicate bond and balance. In addition to interacting with the child, a psychiatrist must also be able to associate with the child's parents and/or guardians. This may involving recommending certain activities, treatments, or medications to provide the best health and mental well-being for the child.
