Family Dollar Stores Inc Reviews

Q: What is it like working as a Retail Store Assistant Manager at Family Dollar Stores Inc?

Retail Store Assistant Manager in Kansas City:
"It is what it is."
Pros: The work is east enough, they tell you exactly what you need to do and give you the plans so you know what your store should look like. Its a neighborhood store wherever you go so because of our pricing you can get to know your regular customers and if you like customer service like I do, they can really make your day.
Cons: The pay is not what I expected, being an ASM is overhyped, there is no overnight crew so you have from open to close to get all the merchandise out but there are still customers shopping, they are rude and will walk right where you are even though they see you working, they think they own the store and you have to be pleasant because well they are the customer... I personally am constantly shifted from one store to another without being asked, because no one respects this job is someone on the team is always trying to get over and its not fair to the rest of us, the customers steal daily and don't care no matter how many tags we have on the items, there is no security so we can't stop them once they run out the door, we aren't allowed to chase them all we can do is hope to catch them in the act so we can prevent it.

Retail Store Assistant Manager in Marion:
"Drained."
Pros: People you come in contact with and driving time to work.
Cons: Under staffed under payed over worked and working entire shifts alone which makes the job dangerous.
