Shipping Manager Salary

A shipping manager is an administrative office worker who oversees shipping and receiving departments. Shipping managers are called upon to pack items for shipment, verify the contents of packages that are sent or received, order supplies, and monitor employees who work at lower levels.
The educational requirements for a career in shipping management will usually depend on the employer the person wishes to work for, but in nearly all cases will require a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. A certificate or an associate's degree would also be helpful, as some shipping manager positions do require post-secondary education. Helpful courses for this field should include computer applications, business communication and office administration. Any type of managerial courses would also be helpful, as well as math and anything pertaining to interpersonal skills.

They might be called upon to develop operating procedures in ways that will make shipping more efficient. Shipping managers may have additional duties connected to the overseeing and maintenance of shipping fleets of vehicles.
