Pre sales technical consultants provide technical support to various clients for their company. They apply broad understanding of technical developments and products to solve customers' business problems in a timely manner. Further, pre sales technical consultants work with various team members to develop a technical blueprint for solving and demonstrating to product solutions to clients. Other tasks include identifying the scalability options of a solution (which might include the design of specific technical activities for clients) and working effectively with telecommunication technologies, data centers, and technical equipment. These professionals must demonstrate strong communication skills, as they will work closely with supervisors, colleagues, and clients on a number of projects. This is typically a full time position that takes place in an office environment; travel - including weekend and evening hours - may be required on specific projects.
Employers typically require a bachelor's degree or technical degree in a relevant field. Related solutions and/or technical experience in an appropriate industry is usually required as well; some companies may require a minimum of eight years in the field. Companies may also require that pre technical consultants have previous experience with selling sales force automation (SFA), customer relationship management (CRM), and marketing software.
