These SVPs generally work closely with the company's ownership, property management, accounting, information technology, and risk management, and are responsible for developing business plans, identifying portfolio/asset strategies, routinely providing senior executives with performance feedback, overseeing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, and acknowledging diversity and inclusion in the recruiting process.
A bachelor's degree in business and at least fifteen years of experience in the industry are generally required for this position, and asset management SVPs must also have a good understanding of acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing, and development/redevelopment processes. Travel may be necessary less than twenty-percent of the time, and communication in-person and via phone with others is necessary on a daily basis. Those in this position must have strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills to balance and coordinate several time-sensitive jobs at once, and skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook may also be necessary in addition to job training and meeting regulatory requirements.
