Best ROI College in Each State

Want to know which colleges and universities provide the best ROI in their respective states?

A college education is an investment of both time and money. Of course, the benefits of going to college are more than just making more money post-graduation, but the economic aspects of evaluating college return on investment (ROI) shouldn't be ignored. Regardless of where and what you're planning to study, comparing earning potential with the cost of your education should be part of the equation when you're deciding where you want to go to school and what you want to study.

PayScale's College ROI report highlights best- and worst-value colleges for various majors and career paths by evaluating ROI—for both in-state and out-of-state studentsI—at 1,422 different schools.

The below map highlights the top school in each state, based on their net 20-year ROI. Some are state schools, some are private schools, and one is actually a federally funded school. And while some states have multiple schools at or near the top of our overall list, all states have a best option within their borders.
