Idaho is famous for its most popular crop, the potato, as approximately one quarter of the potatoes produced in the United States come from this state. Boise State University, located in the state capital, is home to the Division 1 football team the Broncos. Idaho State University, in Pocatello, is home to the Bengals.

The earning potential of graduates with a 2-year degree from Boise State University (BSU) for early career median salary rises appreciably after 10 or more years of experience. Although Idaho State University graduates have a slightly lower median early career salary, the median mid-career salary of ISU graduates is often higher than that of BSU alumni. About 30 percent of associate degrees from Idaho State University are in STEM subjects.
