The supervisor's primary role is to supervise the overall functioning of the restaurant. They are the first person to note when employees are struggling, and they step in to help or take other action to assist the employee in successfully performing up to standards. The supervisor may offer suggestions or implement training as well.
The restaurant supervisor may also be given increased clearance with point-of-sale software to void mistaken transactions and help enter promotional coupons/offers that would normally require the assistance of a manager. The supervisor may work as a liaison, helping bring hourly employees' concerns to the attention of management. The supervisor should expect to work weekends and holidays as required by their restaurant.
