An agency recruiter scouts out potential candidates for companies. Usually, the agency recruiter works for an outside staffing agency. The agency recruiter may go over applications in order to pick out potential candidates. Then the agency recruiter often has to carry out interviews in order to determine the best candidates for the job. The recruiter may also be responsible for carrying out background checks to make sure that candidates are truly suitable for certain jobs. This includes verifying references and past employment. Especially for higher or executive positions, the agency recruiter may have to do research in order to discover the best candidates and then recruit these candidates in order to convince them to work at the company looking to hire. The recruiter may have to have some experience with carrying out internet mining techniques. Therefore, it is important to be proficient with computer and internet skills.
Travel may sometimes be necessary in order to carry out interviews and to attend job fairs, and a flexible schedule is often needed in order to succeed. An agency recruiter may also accept applications from candidates and attempt to connect them with a suitable company.
