Architectural sales representatives should be prepared to travel, as architectural firms often work on projects located outside the city or state, and these representatives must be willing to make multi-day trips to clients to help facilitate sales. They may work both indoors and outdoors depending on the project, including working in an office and meeting with clients as well as traveling to proposed job sites to discuss plans with clients.
Those in this position typically obtain architectural plans from the firm and then meet with potential clients who intend to build or renovate, and the representative will present the client with the proposed plans and details for the project. The representative may also travel to the proposed location with renderings to show the client how the final results may look, and make a case for the client to choose their firm over the competition and complete the sale.
