Corporate chefs are tasked with managing the culinary operations of a business and serving as entrepreneurs in their own right to ensure its success. They must work to perfect the dining experience at their establishment and work extensively with sales teams for commercial growth, as well as reach out on social media and other platforms to market the business. Corporate chefs typically work with the marketing, sales, and purchasing departments, as well as territory managers and customers. They must also develop and execute sales presentations to maximize commercial growth and ensure that budgets are met at all times.
Corporate chefs should be action-oriented, good at multitasking, and have strong communication skills to proactively communicate with employees at all levels of the company as well as customers. They should also have strong decision-making and organizational skills and be able to adapt to changing environments. Years of prior experience in professional kitchens and business in general are necessary for this position, and some corporate chefs learn only from experience while others also receive training from a college or culinary school.
