Job Description for Academic Dean

Academic deans are responsible for all aspects of managing and developing faculty and academic staff at an educational institution. Their primary responsibility is to set and meet academic goals, which includes developing an understanding of academic needs, working with faculty and other campus management to create a plan of action, and executing and evaluating results. Academic deans are involved in hiring new faculty and academic staff members. They also provide budgetary oversight for their academic department, reviewing the budget and giving feedback on updates and changing needs. Additionally, academic deans help establish academic standards for the department and review faculty and staff to ensure those standards are met. They may assist in recruitment, retention, and marketing efforts to increase and maintain student enrollment.
