Job Description for Coding Director

Coding directors generally maintain and implement a formal review process for coding compliance, as well as designs and uses of audit tools to monitor the accuracy of clinical coding. Performing data quality reviews is a common responsibility in this position, and they may also validate certain codes with the International Classification of Diseases Manual and check for missed diagnoses in medical fields and missed codes for procedures; this process ensures compliance with all international regulations for codes within business settings.


Coding Director Tasks

  • Maintain correspondence with physicians and staff regarding changes to the coding system.
  • Manage coding educators.
  • Correct errors in coding and coding documentation with the help of physicians and staff.
  • Direct and organize the coding system at a medical facility.
