Job Description for HVAC Mechanic

An HVAC mechanic performs installation and maintenance tasks related to heating and cooling units such as heating systems, air conditioning systems, and refrigeration units. On a day-to-day basis, HVAC mechanics typically perform light maintenance on heating, cooling and vent systems; respond to emergency calls; and make at home visits to perform repairs. They also analyze systems to make sure they are running smoothly and efficiently; additionally, they must ensure systems are running safely. HVAC mechanics also need to be able to read and understand system blueprints, as well as be able to prepare sketches and perform any additional duties assigned by supervisors.
