Heads of information technology (IT) and infrastructure are responsible for managing all IT requests within their organization, as well as planning and deploying infrastructure features for their organization. They are in charge of evaluating hardware and software platforms, analyzing their performance, and recommending changes based on their experience and project requirements. Heads of IT and infrastructure provide leadership by motivating a group of computer specialists in the creation and implementation of support management systems. They also evaluate project status and report their progress to upper management within their company.


Head of IT & Infrastructure Tasks

  • Manage business continuity and disaster recovery planning as well as system security and data confidentiality.
  • Coordinate and manage IT professionals in departments such as systems engineering, communications, and data management.
  • Plan, develop, and oversee company IT networks, including telecommunications, database management, networks, and IT support.
  • Act as a liaison with vendors supplying IT related products, and negotiate contracts for equipment and services.
