Housing counselors work with potential homeowners to provide home services and counseling for the home-buyer's program. Housing counselors also work in programs and advocacy campaigns which provide assistance and outreach to low-income families. They may work in a variety of locations, including indoors and outdoors, to "show" houses and travel from one location to another to visit potential homes for clients, and also work in an office to analyze paperwork and understand clients' needs firsthand.
Housing counselors work with a variety of clients of all income-levels, and a bachelor's degree and licensing as a mortgage loan originator are generally required for this position. The job expectancy rate for this position is expected to rise roughly 3% in the years ahead.
