Missing that "promised raise"?? Here's a solution as you begin your next job. GET IT IN WRITING!! If your new employer is "above board" and honest, he/she won't have a problem giving you a raise/bonus schedule with their signature on it. If they don't honor it, you have a contract which they have defaulted on, and grounds to file suit and win.

Don't expect a raise if your not absolutely indispensable to your company. Once they cannot do without you, you'll have the leverage to make demands and expect them to be met. This will take lots of hard work initially. 3 years into my current position, I demanded and got a 40% raise and made them include my health insurance too. Become a asset, and intelligent employers will compensate you rather than replace you.
