Network and computer systems administrators/systems programmers are in charge of administrating, and managing network-related tasks across systems in their organization. They are responsible for maintaining excellent network transfer performance, as well as oversee and review networking protocols while developing new scripts to make networking devices work in more efficient ways. Network and computer systems administrators/systems programmers use their analytical skills to identify bottlenecks in a network transfer and utilize a variety of applications to correct speed and permission issues. Generally, these administrators report their progress and escalate problems with the network manager or supervisor in their area. One of their main tools include a personal computer to manage routers, switches, and other networking equipment. The administrator's main responsibilities include updating computer systems and making sure security software has been installed correctly and is running as it should. They also create run-times for systems in a variety of programming languages.
