Manufacturing production supervisors are responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and executing daily tasks in line with the production schedule. Daily tasks may include rate checks, sanitation checks, scrap reporting, inventory management, and mentoring of assistant supervisors. The production supervisor is also the head of their respective first-response team, managing safety and accidents, and reviewing all hazardous material requirements and practices. They also enforce all facility rules for all employees on the site.
Manufacturing production supervisors should have a strong manufacturing background, leadership skills and experience in the field. Strong math and computer skills are essential. College degree or equivalent experience typically is preferred. Strong communication skills (both written and oral) are required, and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is a plus.
