The automotive sales consultant is responsible for helping automobile buyers discover which vehicles best fit their needs within their price range. The consultant welcomes the prospective buyer to the lot and engages them in friendly conversation to determine the buyer's needs and interests. Whether the buyer is just browsing or they have an idea of what they want, the automotive sales consultant helps them by showing the available cars, explaining their features, answering any questions the buyer may have, and helping them come to a decision. If the buyer decides to purchase a vehicle, the automotive sales consultant either refers them to a representative of the dealership's finance department or (as is often the case in small or used-car lots) they may assist in closing the sale on their own.
