It's important to keep clients’ budgets in mind when arranging the best-possible services with the most affordable fares and minimal layover time, and clients' preferred routes and carriers should also be considered. Travel arrangements are occasionally made on a bulk basis, so problem-solving skills are important in this position, and commission is offered by some employers based on revenue generated from accounts. Because this is a management position, there may be a small number of employees working underneath these managers, and discipline/reward systems and commission standards may also be established.
Basic administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, and employee evaluations may be necessary in this position, as well as coaching and mentoring travel employees. Strong computer skills are also important to utilize travel booking modules and other tools.
