Graduates of Butler head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the marketing, advertising, and media management industry, the marketing agency industry, and the e-commerce, business to consumer (b2c) industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. The majority of Butler alumni wind up in the retail pharmacy or drugstore industry. Butler graduates see an average starting salary of $58K.


There is a sizable difference between men's post-college salaries and women's: the median for the former is about $71K, but the median for the latter is only $50K.


The most generous salaries among Butler alumni are reportedly earned by Pharmacists, whose median earnings come to around $110K, followed by Human Resources Directors ($96K) and Energy Project Managers ($75K). Salaries are anything but generous for Systems Analysts, whose earnings rank lowest on the pay scale at approximately $61K.


Infamous for its meager salaries (average pay is the lowest at around $53K), approximately half of Butler students still call Indianapolis, Ind. their home after graduation. Butler grads with a different agenda may consider the above-average salaries in Houston, Texas — pay averages to approximately $95K. Louisville, Ky. is also a common pick among Butler grads, along with South Bend, Ind.

Degree Major

A medical degree earns Butler students the most money after college (an average about $113K per year). Graduates holding a Bachelor's Degree, Public Relations (PR) fare the worst in terms of compensation with an average yearly salary of $42K.


Former Bulldogs with Project Management experience garner salaries that are 28 percent more than other grads' salaries. Project Management is a common skill among Butler alumni — around one in five grads mention using it at work. Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Excel, Financial Analysis, and Data Analysis rank among leading skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only two-fifths of alumni for this school enjoy paid vacation days and about one in four survey participants get paid sick time. Most former students opt for a 401(k) to save for retirement. Most grads have medical plans, and a large number of grads have dental insurance. Butler University grads are also lucky enough to receive a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
