Graduates of Temple go into the health care industry, the financial services industry, and the retail industry, not to mention a variety of other lines of work. The most popular career sector among alumni is the education industry. The average salary for a grad from Temple is $55K.

After graduation, women go on to earn an average of about $52K per year compared to men, who earn $62K.

Former Temple students with an interest in making money consider becoming Marketing Directors, the highest-paying gig (average earnings amount to around $90K) among this alumni group. Other well-paid jobs include Programmer Analysts (approximately $80K) and Executive Directors ($73K). Collecting the smallest paychecks are Office Managers — they bring in $38K.

Temple students enjoy their time in Philadelphia, and over a third of students actually choose to live and work there after graduating. It is also not uncommon to find former Temple students living and working in King of Prussia, Pa. — this top-paying city is a popular destination with a median salary of about $77K. Though Harrisburg, Pa. takes the cake for lowest pay among Temple grads (the median salary is $44K there), it remains a common destination for former students. New York, N.Y. and Washington, DC are popular choices as well.

Degree Major

Financial compensation is highest for Temple grads with a medical degree (average earnings climb to approximately $138K per year). A B.A. in Political Science (PolySci) commands less pay, and these degree-holders face median pay of $40K.

Temple grads are usually competent in Microsoft Office, and close to an eighth of alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. For former Owls, proficiency in Financial Analysis warrants a paycheck that is 14 percent more than other alumni salaries. Project Management, Microsoft Excel, and Customer Service are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Though vacation and sick days are paid for some, these benefits are reported by the minority of graduates (two-fifths of alumni and one-fourth of alumni, respectively). A fair number of former students participate in a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Health benefits extend to a strong majority of former students, and the larger part of respondents also receive dental coverage. Other benefits awarded to Temple University alumni include life insurance, a casual working environment, tuition reimbursement, and a company-subsidized cell phone.
