Graduates of TWU work in a variety of industries including clinical care, the education industry, and the health care services industry. A large chunk of former TWU students are employed in the health care industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Less than five percent of TWU grads move into public K-12 education industry — it is the road least traveled for this demographic. The average starting salary for a graduate of TWU is approximately $60K.

The TWU alumni who make the most are Family Nurse Practitioners; they report a median pay of $92K. Directors of Nursing and Physical Therapists draw in a fair amount as well — $85K and about $75K. Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Payroll Managers, making an average of around $48K.


Dallas is a hub for TWU graduates — a large number call this city home. Plano is also a common destination for TWU grads and offers the best pay with a median salary of $69K. Many former Pioneers can't resist staying in Denton after graduating despite the median salaries there ranking lowest among popular cities ($50K). In addition, TWU grads flock to neighboring Houston as well as Fort Worth.

Degree Major

TWU grads who hold a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) can expect to fare better than most fellow alumni, earning $92K per year. A B.A. in English Language commands less pay, and these degree-holders face salaries of about $40K.


Former Pioneers who have experience with Pediatrics can expect to make 26 percent more than other alumni (around $76K on average). Microsoft Excel is a popular skill among TWU alumni, with less than ten percent of workers reporting using it on the job. Customer Service, Microsoft Office, and Budget Management are among other dominant skills.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about half of the alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in three grads get sick time. In an effort to save up for the years ahead, most grads contribute to a 401(k). A fair portion of grads receive health insurance, and a majority of respondents get dental coverage. Other benefits that Texas Woman's University alumni receive are life insurance, tuition reimbursement, a casual working environment, and a company-subsidized cell phone.
