Graduates of the UTEP go into the software development industry, clinical care, and public K-12 education, not to mention a variety of other lines of work. A large chunk of former UTEP students are employed in the manufacturing industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Following graduation, UTEP students earn an average of $58K.


In the UTEP alumni professional community, Operations Managers make the highest median pay (approximately $102K), though Software Engineers (about $80K), and Mechanical Engineers ($60K) are close competitors. Administrative Assistants face rather mediocre compensation — average salaries are actually the lowest at $28K.


Despite handing out the worst average salary (around $51K), El Paso, Texas holds on to its UTEP student population, and about one-half of grads continue to reside in the city. On the opposite end of the pay scale is San Antonio, Texas, a top-paying city for UTEP grads looking to earn a larger-than-average sum (this city has a median pay of $93K). Close-by Dallas, Texas and Austin, Texas are also desirable cities among UTEP alumni.

Financial compensation is highest for UTEP grads with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Business Administration (average earnings climb to around $120K per year). The degree that warrants the lowest level of financial compensation is a Bachelor's Degree, Psychology ($28K on average annually).


Former Miners with C++ experience garner salaries that are 38 percent more than other grads' salaries. UTEP grads are usually competent in Microsoft Office, and approximately one-eighth of alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. Competency in Microsoft Excel, Project Management, and Customer Service also warrants excellent remuneration.

Benefits and Perks

Just two-fifths of alumni enjoy paid vacation and merely one-third of alumni get paid sick time. A large number of respondents have medical plans, and a majority of alumni have dental insurance. A large number of grads report contributing to a 401(k). University of Texas at El Paso alumni are also on the receiving end of life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
