They generally work in an office, with typical office hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They also spend a lot of time with sales and/or marketing teams in conference rooms. They usually report to a higher-level director, but sometimes they direct to a company president or CEO. Sales and marketing managers make use of regular office equipment, including phones, computers, pens and paper, and other typical office supplies. Sometimes they may be required to travel to meet in conjunction with another sales/marketing team in their company or to finalize a sale. Their main duties include overseeing teams of sales and marketing representatives. Sales and marketing managers must collect ideas and determine which one are the most useful, while also building on those ideas and putting them into use. Sales and marketing managers must have a wealth of experience as a sales or marketing representative, and they must also have a bachelor's degree, preferably in the related fields of business management or marketing.
