Job Description for Admissions Coordinator

Admissions coordinators are primarily responsible for screening individuals in a variety of medical professions, where they do intake for patients. They also keep up with the intake needs of current clients. The work includes not only deciding whether or not the individuals qualify for admission, but also the type of care that they require. Once the type of care is decided, it is the admission coordinator's duty to facilitate getting the patient access to necessary services. They work closely with administrators to provide individuals with the best options available. Admission coordinators also maintain communication between their organization and the patient's referrals and family. They are also responsible for maintaining all the documentation involved with the intake process. Admissions coordinators may also be responsible for giving walk-in and referral tours of a facility. They collect information from potential clients and direct them through the facility to give the potential clients a feel for the services provided.
