Job Description for Dietary Manager

Dietary managers are responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and directing of dietary departments. They are required to ensure that the department adheres to company policy, as well as federal and state government regulations. Their departments provide food service and nutritional care to people in hospitals and other institutions; they may also oversee dining rooms and special catering events. Additionally, dietary managers handle the selection and supervision of staff. They ensure that their staff stores, prepares, and delivers food appropriately. They may also be responsible for preparation of menus, purchasing food and supplies, and inventory control. Dietary managers are ultimately responsible for the safe and sanitary execution of the kitchen.
