Job Description for Director, Volunteer Services

Directors of volunteer services are responsible for organizing volunteer event and services for their organization. They assist with volunteer recruitment and selection, participate in training for internal and external individuals, and use strong leadership skills to motivate a group of volunteers to achieve organizational goals in a timely manner. Directors of volunteer services use a personal computer as one of their main tools to communicate with other organizations, colleagues, and volunteers, as well as maintain event and volunteer information. They actively participate in events to promote their organization's volunteer programs and share important information for prospective volunteers, as well as work to create strong partnerships and maintain positive relations with relevant outside organizations. Directors of volunteer services must follow all safety and privacy guidelines to protect sensitive company and volunteer data.

Pros: This job has the potential to be dynamic, fun, creative and most importantly, HELPFUL TO THE WORLD. The spirit of volunteering, the ability to be of service to others is a miracle. And it makes you happy. Unfortunately, the higher ups do not value that here and employees are treated horribly.
Cons: That my work is not recognized as anything at all. There is no value to my work. I am not valued as a person or an employee. All that is cared about is that I sit at my desk from 8:30 on the dot to 5:00 and not one second earlier.
