Many large companies have a great number of locations and sales outlets for which they need regional facilities managers. These managers are responsible for supervising the condition and upkeep of existing stores and outlets and may also work on the construction of new stores within their region, which may involve remodeling, renovation, or capital improvements.Read More...
Companies typically divide responsibilities for their stores and facilities by region, and regional facilities managers help secure contracted services such as cleaning, parking, landscaping, and utilities for each location within their radius. They also work closely with individual general managers of stores for feedback on particular repairs, maintenance, or other issues affecting specific locations. The manager may receive feedback on contracted services and seek out new competitive bids in order to improve service at his/her locations and keep costs low.
Regional facilities managers also assist with major purchases and installations; managers of fast food chains for example, may replace inoperable kitchen fixtures and appliances. They may also supervise larger capital improvements for particular locations and work with company designers and architects on new construction/remodeling efforts and help coordinate and supervise these processes.
