What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?
Regional Sales Director in Oklahoma City:
"Concentrate on Growth."
Don't change who you are when you take on a new responsibility. One thing I would recommend is to not sweat the small stuff, and focus on what's important….growth.
Regional Sales Director in Orlando:
"Its All About Leadership."
Empower your people, challenge them, leverage their strengths, give praise often, take responsibility for when things go wrong vs. Throwing your people under the bus, keep your team focused on those few things that are central to driving your business and help them avoid those things or customers that will distract them from that purpose. Lastly, when hiring don't try to always get talent from your given segment, looking outside of your space, and sometimes giving someone who is hungry the opportunity can pay big dividends and open up new ideas.
Regional Sales Director in Honolulu:
"Travel Career Isn't For Everyone."
A travel character is fantastic, however the challenges for women are 1) being a mother; 2) being married; 3) being a single parent.
Having language skills helps, but nearly all international market contacts speak English.
