A sales administration supervisor is primarily responsible for supporting an organization’s sales efforts by enforcing policies and sales results. This is a position that is supervisory in nature, and the person is a team lead of sales administration groups. This position is a full-time position, wherein the supervisor will sometimes work extended hours or overtime hours, dependent on the organization.
Formal education requirements within this position are dependent on the organization. However, many employers do require a higher degree (associate’s or bachelor’s) in a field such as hospitality, sales, or business administration. Many organizations prefer for their sales administration supervisor to have at least five years of experience within the field, and they do place preference over those who have experience within the organization. This person will typically work within an office environment.
A sales administration supervisor will have a variety of responsibilities associated with their position, including managing a team or multiple teams within the company, enforcing all company policies, monitoring sales results of the team and organization, processing orders, acting as an extension of the sales team, acting as the main point of contact for customers, contributing to customer service, helping the sales team attain goals, overseeing orders from start to end, confirming orders with customers, acting as a liaison between manufacturing departments and the sales department, maintaining accurate records, acting as support for sales representatives, and acting as a leader within the organization. This person should be highly organized and pay high attention to detail, as the job requires a person who can work on multiple projects at a time and prioritize projects.
