Senior sales operations managers are responsible for managing company operations and provide sales support for their organization. They are in charge of effectively completing operations and deliver sales assistance as needed to sales staff. Senior sales operations managers must motivate a group of sales professionals to reach company objectives in a timely manner. They create detailed sales reports and present their progress to company executives, as well as participate in company meetings to suggest changes to the operations and sales processes. Senior sales operations managers are responsible for setting quotas, as well as designing and implementing a compensation package for the best sales performers in their organization. They also provide ad hoc analysis for other departments as needed. These managers use a personal computer as one of their main tools to stay in touch with their sales personnel, as well as keep an accurate record of sales and interactions with prospect clients. They must be proficient with spreadsheet software to calculate financial and sales data, as well as excellent skills with other office applications. Senior sales operations managers also help develop analytics tools and research applications as required.
This position requires at least a bachelor's degree in marketing, finance, or a related field. In addition, previous experience in a sales manager position is necessary. Industry certifications may be required or preferred. Senior sales operations managers must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be results oriented.
