An information technology (IT) support engineer ensures that all of the technological systems that the company uses are maintained and operational. The day-to-day activities of an IT support engineer vary, as new problems and issues may arise because of general wear-and-tear or new problems in software and technology. In addition, the engineer is an importance piece in communicating to other staff how the company's software and hardware work to other staff; this means that IT support engineers frequently talk with members of other departments that have issues with their information systems, to fix and explain the problems they are having.
