The primary role of talent acquisition directors is to manage the hiring process and find qualified recruits to fill organizational vacancies. These directors must be able to use various sources to find new applicants, such as job-search websites and job fairs. They must also sort through applications and information from potential hires. Talent acquisition directors participate in at least part of the recruitment process, including by interviewing and negotiating with candidates; they also help optimize hiring policies. Talent acquisition directors generally work indoors in an office environment. Some companies may require extensive travel to external locations as well. Work is often done in small teams, although the talent acquisition director must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision.
Most talent acquisition director positions require extensive experience with recruiting, often at least seven to 10 years performing such duties.
