Negotiating Higher Pay
Transfering to the subcontract company while on the same contract for higher pay
Not only did I achieve a higher starting salary than the previous manager (whom moved up in her career to the prime contract and Program Manager of the entire contraact); I continued to work hard, having regular contact with my offsite (out of state) boss, getting feedback not only from the employees but the customer, allowed me to maintain success throughout my tenure. Along with this, every year during the annual raise/ performance reviews, I was allways able to show that not only did I earn the higher wage, but in doing so, produced a cost savings to the employeer with no impact to the customer. I continually recieved higher raises, almost reaching the same amount of pay as the Prime Program Manager. Even though this position and mine were interchangeable, there was a huge difference in the responsibility, leagally, contractually, and ultimately on the prime contractor. To know that I had earned the monetary closeness to this position, lets me know that when I was in the roll of Deputy Program Manager I did an excellent job and could, if needed take over for the prime contractor in this position. My advice is this, work hard, show your results, do not be affraid to toot your horn to the boss, not redundantly, more like quarterly, to keep your top performance in thier views of you as an employee and asset to their company.
County Payscales Need A Serious Look
My advice is to not work for county governments until they can bring their payscales up to median range. There are 6 people who run the whole computer department for the county who have a total workforce of over 650 people and growing. We have to constantly wear multiple hats and we work hard only to be paid up to half of what the median salary range is for our job description. It's very disheartening when you are an expert in the IT industry and you can't even be paid enough to afford a home, car, insurance, utilities, groceries, and have some on the side to keep you from being miserable. When are government entities going to wake up and logically look at what they are doing to their employees and they wonder why they have such a high turnover rate and not enough people to train these cycling individuals. It's pitiful.
How do I ask for a raise for the third-time?
My job is to report minority/women business spending for the entire agency. In addition to match-make relationships w/minority/women businesses with major corporations doing business with the state agency. The numbers I reported are not based on any percentage goal...just spending the dollars with minority/women business owners. The reports have shown I have increased the numbers by 6 -10% in three years. I have asked for a raise and was told "we are looking into it". I have received a response. I was always instructed that your "goodwork" will be noticed and you shouldn't ask for a raise.

I have spooken to the boss, but was real concerned because even though I requested a meeting for the job and change in position he made it real casual. Then when it was all over he said he would take care of it and I didn't receive any documentation.
